5 DAYS UGANDA CULTURAL TOUR

Ugandan cultural tour offers a rich tapestry of experiences that showcase the diverse heritage and natural beauty of the country. This cultural tour offers a blend of historical exploration, wildlife adventures, and immersive cultural experiences, making it a comprehensive way to experience Uganda’s rich heritage and natural wonders.

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

 

Meet your drive guide and embark on your transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, this is a 7-hour drive with enroute at the Equator and lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre near Mbarara town and visit to the museum.

Along the way you will go through Uganda's beautiful green countryside sighting the sprawling savanna, shady, humid forests, tea plantations and sparkling water bodies.

Check in at the lodge in the afternoon and later relax in either our sauna, spa or swimming pool overlooking the rolling savannah vegetation of the park.

Day 2: Game drive and Boat cruise.

 

After an early morning breakfast, you will go for an early morning Game Drive within the park. Expect to see a number of wildlife including Buffaloes, Uganda Kob, Lions, Leopards and white Colubus monkeys.

After the game drive, you will transfer to your lodge to rest as you wait to have your lunch.

After lunch proceed to Mweya peninsular for a Launch Cruise along Kazinga channel that connects Lakes George and Edward where you will get an opportunity to see a number of bird species, elephants and Hippos. Return to the lodge for a second night.

Day 3: Lake Bunyonyi Tour in Kabale and Batwa Experience

 

After an early morning breakfast, you will undertake a scenic drive to Kabale. The drive is characterized by rolling hills that stretch as far as the eye can see, giving you a sense of the vastness and natural beauty of the region.

Kabale, located in southwestern Uganda, is known for its stunning landscapes, rich culture, and proximity to some of the country’s most famous natural attractions. Lake Bunyonyi, is renowned for its stunning beauty, crystal-clear waters, and numerous islands. The lake’s name means "Place of Many Little Birds," reflecting its rich birdlife.

Arrive early in the afternoon, check-in at the lodge. After lunch embark on a boat tour on Lake Bunyonyi that offers a serene and scenic experience, exploring one of Africa's deepest and most picturesque lakes.

Day 4: Transfer to Kabale

 

After enjoying late breakfast, you will undertake a scenic drive to Kabale. The drive is characterized by rolling hills that stretch as far as the eye can see, giving you a sense of the vastness and natural beauty of the region.

 

Kabale, located in southwestern Uganda, is known for its stunning landscapes, rich culture, and proximity to some of the country’s most famous natural attractions.

 

Lake Bunyonyi, is renowned for its stunning beauty, crystal-clear waters, and numerous islands. The lake’s name means "Place of Many Little Birds," reflecting its rich birdlife.

 

Check in at the lodge in the afternoon and later relax in either our sauna, spa or swimming pool overlooking lake Bunyonyi.

While on the boat cruise, you will also enjoy the Batwa Experience.

A Batwa experience offers a unique opportunity to learn about the culture, traditions, and way of life of the Batwa pygmy people, one of Africa's oldest indigenous communities.

The Batwa are indigenous hunter-gatherers who once lived in the forests of Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Today, many Batwa communities have been displaced from their ancestral lands and face challenges in preserving their cultural heritage. What to expect:

Guided Tour of Batwa Community

  • Visit a Batwa community where you'll be warmly welcomed by the villagers. A local guide from the Batwa community will accompany you and provide insights into their way of life.

  • Explore the village, interact with community members, and observe traditional activities such as basket weaving, pottery making, or storytelling

Traditional Dance and Music

  • Enjoy traditional Batwa music and dance performances, which are an integral part of their cultural identity. Experience the rhythmic drumming, chanting, and energetic dances that have been passed down through generations.

Medicinal Plant Walk

  • Take a guided walk through the forest with Batwa elders, who will share their extensive knowledge of medicinal plants and herbs. Learn about the traditional healing practices of the Batwa and the medicinal properties of various plants.

Hunting and Gathering Demonstrations

  • Participate in demonstrations of traditional hunting and gathering techniques used by the Batwa for survival in the forest. Gain insights into their hunting tools, trapping methods, and knowledge of the natural environment.

Following the experience, return to the lodge for relaxation and dinner.

Dinner and overnight stay in Kabale.

Day 4: Nshenyi Cultural Village

 

Nshenyi Cultural Village, located in southwestern Uganda near the Rwanda and Tanzania borders, offers an immersive experience into the traditional lifestyle and culture of the Banyankole and Bahima people.

After an early breakfast, embark on your journey to Nshenyi Cultural Village. The drive will take you through impressive countryside landscapes exploring the settlement of the local people before arriving in Mbarara and eventually Ntugamo. Arrival at Nshenyi in the afternoon, check-in at lodge for lunch.

After an introduction of the village, the culture and family members, you may choose to visit a local school, have a nature walk or spend the evening on an open market and see how Wall Street comes to life in rural Africa!

Dinner and overnight stay in Nshenyi Cultural Village.

Day 5: Transfer back to Kampala

 

Wake up early for breakfast at around 6.00 am. After breakfast, embark on a cultural encounter, exploring the traditions of the Banyankole people.

 

You participate in traditional hand milking of the long-horned Ankole cattle, explore the traditional cattle treatment process, the naming of cows and how the calves know the name of their mothers and themselves, brushing the cow to remove dirt using the local brush called Enkuyo, set out to grazing eld along with the herdsmen learning how to play instruments like ute and traditional songs.

You do the cattle watering at the locally made soil trough and then retreat to the cultural village. You settle for traditional lunch which you can also participate in its preparation process.

Thereafter embark on a journey back to Kampala.

This is the end of the safari.
